Assistant Coffeehouse Manager


The job of the Assistant Manager is to help maintain a motivated, positive, and productive team through support, organization, and communication. In addition, your role is to create an atmosphere for a great guest experience. We are more than a place to get a cup of coffee, but a gathering space for the community.

 

To achieve success the Assistant Manager must perform the following:

  • create and maintain a supportive team environment

  • monthly menu meetings with other Managers and Owners

  • assist in hiring and interviewing

  • plan and conduct employee reviews in accordance with company policy 

  • create and implement the schedule for the coffeehouse FOH staff (barista’s and cashiers) ensuring proper staffing levels and skill sets for all shifts and responsible for handling time-off requests and call-outs.

  • Responsible for maintaining acceptable labor costs

  • responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of the coffeehouse, along with equipment maintenance

  • ensure quality of all drinks and menu items in respect to preparation, ratios and quality of service

  • responsible for inventory ordering for all paper goods, supplies, milks, baking items, market place items etc.

  • Seasonal drink creation

  • create and implement efficient and organized systems

  • assist in planning and executing special events when needed 

  • Ensure all staff are trained on procedures, drink preparation, daily tasks

  • This position will need to perform FOH Barista and Cashier duties as needed to fill in gaps as necessary in the schedule, especially during the off-season.

  • designing and maintaining a living production schedule:

    • help keep track of seasonal pars, and edit production schedule accordingly

    • coordinate the production schedule to be flexible based on daily needs

    • make special production schedules for busier times (holidays etc)


Requirements:

  • previous team lead or management experience in a cafe or restaraunt environment

  • demonstrated enthusiasm for service and teamwork

  • you must be highly organized

  • working quickly, efficiently, and with focus in a high-v0lume fast paced environment.

  • consistent attendance and punctuality

  • excellent customer service skills

  • ability to focus on tasks and provide direction to the FOH staff

  • good problem solving in the moment, proactive response and resolution

  • excellent communication and listening skills with coworkers, managers, customers

  • consistent attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization

  • ability to self direct

  • ability to instill and enforce high levels of efficiency in all aspects of the coffeehouse

Notes

  • this is a year-round position requiring 30 hours a week

  • benefits include contribution to health insurance and 2 weeks paid time off per year
